Can this Tsimane diet prevent heart disease? In America, every year, thousands of people die from different causes like heart disease. Cardiovascular health is a weak property, but now this special diet promises a life free of heart disease.

Heart disease-related problems are responsible to kill nearly 610,000 people each year in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

American Heart Association (AHA) recommends a diet that is rich in vegetables, fruit, oily fish and whole grains. Is this diet really beneficial for the heart? A group of anthropologists from the University of California–Santa Barbara set out to analyze the health of peoples of the Bolivian Amazon. They found that a population called Tsimane never develop heart disease and only a few of them develop unhealthful cholesterol levels, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension.

The researchers believe that Tsimane’s diets might play a key role in preventing their health from heart disease. These people consume food that comes from natural sources.

The specialists spoke to 1,299 Tsimane and they found that their diet was rich in carbohydrates and protein but low in fat. Their report was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. They also noted that Tsimane diet contained 64 percent carbs, 21 percent protein, and 15 percent fats.

“They’re also physically active — not from routine exercise, but from using their bodies to acquire food from their fields and the forest, which is also an important lesson,” said senior study co-author Prof. Michael Gurven.

“You can’t look at what you’re eating irrespective of what you’re doing with your body. If you’re physically active, you can probably get away with more flexibility in the diet.”
